Attorney Alan P. Novak brings a wealth of municipal and business law experience to the Salzmann Hughes team. His career spans more than five decades of legal practice, strategic consulting, and political leadership across the Commonwealth.
Alan is a 1971 graduate of Ursinus College and formerly served as a longtime member of the college’s Board of Trustees. Alan began his legal career after earning his J.D. at Villanova Law School in 1975.
Today, his representation ranges from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses, trade associations, charitable organizations, higher education, and municipal entities. Notably, Alan previously served as Solicitor to the Chester County Industrial Development Authority.
Alan continues to actively serve as partner at Rooney Novak Isenhour Group, the bipartisan strategic consulting firm he co-founded with TJ Rooney, and later Mary Isnhour. He is also the founder of Novak Strategic Advisors, a full-service lobbying and public policy firm. Alan applies his consulting skills assisting clients develop and execute successful government advocacy strategies. As one of the longest-serving chairmen of the Pennsylvania Republican Party, in addition to time as a councilman and committeeman, Alan has played a pivotal role in shaping the state's political landscape. His deep understanding of the legislative process and his ability to navigate state agencies make him an invaluable asset for Salzmann Hughes, P.C.’s clients.
His ability to build relationships across the aisle have earned him recognition for his statesmanship and civility. Politics Magazine has named Alan one of the most influential Republicans in Pennsylvania and he is regularly recognized on PoliticsPA’s “Power 50 List”. In 2017, he was the inaugural recipient, alongside his colleague, TJ Rooney, of the “Allegheny College Prize for Civility in Public Life in Pennsylvania”. He was then named to City and State Magazine’s 2022 Agriculture Power 100, notably serving as the executive director of the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania for the last decade. Alan’s commitment to bipartisan solutions is often featured in high profile news media such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN.
Beyond his legal practice, Alan has a diverse range of interests and commitment to his community. Alan currently serves on the Southeastern Regional Advisory Board for Mid Penn Bank, and for nearly two decades served on the Board of Directors for Independence Blue Cross. Formerly, Alan served as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission and gained additional recognition as a former director of the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame. Additionally, Alan is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Chester County Bar Association. He is a frequent keynote speaker for trade associations, business, professional, and not-for-profit groups.
Alan and his wife, Lynn, live in Coatesville, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Lynn and Alan have 3 children and 9 grandchildren, and Hallie, their miniature Labradoodle. When not advocating for Pennsylvanians, Alan and his family enjoy spending time on his cattle ranch in Dublin, Texas.
