ATTORNEY ROBERT "BOB" CAMPBELL ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM PRACTICE OF LAW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[GETTYSBURG]- Local attorney Robert “Bob” E. Campbell recently announced his retirement from the practice of law beginning on December 31, 2023. Bob is a 1960 graduate of Biglerville High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ursinus College in 1964 and received his Juris Doctor Degree cum laude from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1967. After graduation, Bob first shared an office with Attorney Eugene Hartman before merging his legal practice with Attorney John White to form the law firm Campbell & White in downtown Gettysburg. Bob would go on to serve the region for 51 years in private practice. Bob’s legal career placed special emphasis on estate planning and estate administration, real estate law and settlements, municipal law, corporate law, and representation of small businesses including sales and transfer of businesses and obtaining and transferring liquor licenses for many Gettysburg area restaurants.

As he began building his general practitioner services in Gettysburg at Campbell & White in the 1970s, Bob simultaneously made history as the first paid, part-time Public Defender in Adams County. Bob served in his appointed position as a part-time Public Defender for nearly a decade. Campbell & White was also the first practice in Adams County to become associated with a title insurance company. Today, Bob is a Title Insurance Agent for First American Title Insurance Company and has vast real estate experience from conducting his own title searches, to handling closings, and issuing title insurance. Bob has been a distinguished member of the regional law firm, Salzmann Hughes, P.C., for the past five years.

He remarked, "The decision to retire was made easier knowing that my clients will be in good hands, but after 56 years, I'm going to miss interactions with my clients and colleagues in Adams County."

Bob devoted his spare time to the betterment of youth in the community as a long-standing member of the Gettysburg Optimist Club. He served as a little league and teener league baseball coach for 10 years. He also was a youth soccer coach for 30 years and was a co-founder of the AYSO youth soccer league in the Gettysburg region. Bob is also credited with petitioning and founding the soccer team at the Gettysburg Area High School in the late 1980s. Bob is an active member of his church, serving in numerous capacities. He and his wife, Catherine, reside in Gettysburg and have four adult sons, and 11 grandchildren.
